The Adventures of Dreams – Architectures of Paradise

I met Lisa at the Accademia di Belle Arti of Venice along a study programme under the direction of prof. Luigi Viola.

The idea I always had of her Art is of a remarkable creativity that appears under the form of a mysterious sensitivity in putting into play colours, shapes and materials.

When I had to develop the idea of this exhibition, I started with a workshop with Lisa to discover those mysterious aspects and share the secrets of her Art with the future visitors.

Lisa showed me the tales of her dreams written since she was a child and I saw her works are always animated by things she wrote.

I discovered two important strands of creativity connected by the logic of dreams and desires, that are shown in the two sections of the exhibition : The Adventures of Dreams and Architectures of Paradise.

The section The Adventures of Dreams by the Spazi Bomben gives the visitors a fantastic experience that flows ambiguously in a dimension between space and time. The different kinds of works are created by the traces of the dreams that followed the growth of the artist, dreams sometimes distressing: see the window open on diversity as ” Nature Oddities”; and above all wonderful dreams that Lisa prefers. They are joyful adventures of travels, love dreams and of a personal vision of the world. Within the particularity of her way to express in painting art, in her silence, emanates a warmth through the use of colours and a brush stroke that leads to an energetic effect of incision. The artist bring into play diversity and material coupling often recycled that she recover from discharged objects to which she finds a collocation in her painting works and installations, raising them between the wing of a butterfly, of a dragonfly, of an angel. With the representation under different shapes of her dreams, as long as she builds her ideal paradise where all the living beings find their place.

From these dreams-desires we go into the section Architecture of Paradise by the Spazio Paraggi. The term Architecture here assumes an active valence to express the possibility and the will to build the Paradise according to the suggestions the artist gives to the society. Works are disposed to represent a subject image in an ideal but concrete and near world, reflecting it in places such as Piazza dei Signori, the Treviso Cathedral, San Marco square, that is friendly and known places and for this sure and welcoming. The invitation to cross the town and transfer ourselves from one to another part of the exhibition is part as well of the same experience.

The installation of angels created with recycled materials suspended in the air, the corridor illuminated by digital drawings to be admired from a higher point of view, the projection of the painting Paradisi that we cross, makes that the experience of the visitor interlaces with the artist desires to build an artificial paradise.

A contemporary artist has the necessity to enter into the relationships with the society through our language: generosity and naive love transmitted by the art of Lisa Perini, drive us to the true values of making Art.
